The Ice Rink at Grand Sierra Resort welcomes you to the coolest place to skate this winter. Grab some skates, or bring your own, and glide, twirl (or tumble) around our magnificent outdoor rink. Fun for the whole family, The Ice Rink at GSR is the perfect place to glide and twirl around for a spectacular skating adventure. Ice skating is the perfect way to spend an afternoon, no matter your age! Entertain the family or a group of friends with a visit to The Ice Station. Located in the heart of vibrant Cape Town, GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World is the largest entertainment destination of its kind and boasts this Olympic-sized skate rink. The rink changed hands in 1986 and the Cape Peninsula Ice Skating Club was formed, under the management of an elected committee. The property was sold in 1994 and the rink, renamed as The Ice Station was included in the GrandWest Casino & Entertainment World Development. Public skating sessions are available year-round and are open at various times throughout the week. Check the calendar for dates and times. Times may change from time to time. Located adjacent to Angel Of The Winds Arena, the NHL regulation size ice sheet at the Everett Community Ice Rink is available for skaters of all skill levels and interests.

Before you hit the ice you’ll need one essential item – your ice skates! Pick up your skates from the Skate Hire counter, located next to the ice rink on Level 1. We have over 1,500 pairs of skates in a variety of sizes from child size 5 to adult size 15.

OPEN SKATE

Open Skate is for all ages and skill levels. Skate rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis - we offer sizes from Toddler size 9 to Men's 13. Tot walkers are available upon request for children ages 8 and under - our walkers are designed to assist children on the ice as they learn to skate properly and safely. Helmets, knee and elbow pads are recommended, but not required. Helmets are available upon request. No hockey sticks or pucks allowed. Skate at your own risk.

We have made some changes to the Open Skate sessions to adjust for COVID-19 restrictions. Please familiarize yourself with new procedures before attending your first session:

• We will now be taking ALL Open Skate reservations and payments online to limit contact between our visitors and our employees. Tickets and skate rentals can be purchased online at www.Universe.com/iceskating up to 2 weeks in advance.
• Face masks or alternative face coverings are required to enter the arena and must be worn at all times when not on the ice - please have your mask on before you get in line to enter. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a traditional face mask please bring your own alternative face covering (face shield, bandana, etc.) Masks are encouraged when on the ice.
• There are a limited number of tickets available for each session - when the session becomes full, the online reservation system will show the session as being sold out or unavailable.
• No refunds or exchanges for any reason.
• Rental skates are available in sizes toddler 9 through men's 13.
• The ice rink will not be open to the public. All attendees will be required to show a ticket to enter the arena.
• One (1) adult (parent/guardian) spectator is allowed per child skater. Spectators may sit in the stands but are not allowed on the ice.
• Open skate sessions are 90 minutes long.
• Doors open at the start time - no early admission.
• Skaters will have 15 minutes at the end of the skate session to change out of their skates and exit the building.
• Water will not be available - please bring your pre-filled water bottle.
• All skaters will be required to accept the terms of the participant release/waiver before purchasing tickets online.

PRICING PER SESSION

• Open Skate Ages 13 and up: $6.00 per session
• Open Skate Ages 4 -12: $4.00 per session
• Open Skate Ages 3 and under: Free
  
• Skate Rental $4 per pair, per session (sizes Toddler 9 to Men's 13)
• Skate Sharpening $6 per pair (Drop off your skates at the start of the skate session and pick them up afterward. Skates are not guaranteed to be sharpened before the end of the session. Plan to bring another pair or rent a pair.)

OPEN HOCKEY

Open Hockey sessions are available for hockey players that would like to drop by and join in a pickup hockey game. Must be 18 years or older and full equipment is required. Skate at your own risk.

ADULT HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Adult Hockey League is a recreational hockey league open to men and women ages 18 and up. It is a non-fighting, non-checking league focused on promoting physical fitness and competitive sportsmanship. Participation in the Adult Hockey League is at your own risk.
